Expiriments in Natural Consequences.

I used to kick people who woke me up in my childhood. Really, Kick them. Ask my Bro in Law Brent who is really more like a Brother since he started dating my sister when I was about 7 or so. You know that phrase "Pay back is Hell?" Yeah that's me for the last 4 years.
If you have read any of my depressing rants on this blog you know that Savannah is really, really, really awful to get out of bed. So I have been speaking with someone regularly on parenting her and how to get better at it and he suggested I HAD TO find a way to let go of some things. So I said "What just send her to school in Pajamas and messy hair?" He said, "Yes, Exactly." I warned her teacher (who BTW is a fabulous emailer. I love having a young teacher who uses her email often.) The first morning I dressed her in bed (I can't let it all go) and then I told her she had 20 minutes to get up, eat breakfast and brush her teeth. 20 minutes came and went and I started loading Collin and Caro in the car. I couldn't believe my ears when she got up and brushed her teeth and ran quickly to the car. She went to school hungry and I did provide a hair brush in the car. The rest of the week I woke her up and said, "You can get out of bed or go to school hungry." That pretty much did the trick. The biggest benefit is I FEEL BETTER about our mornings. I don't spend my morning cajoling her out of bed. If she doesn't get up, I put a hair brush and hair clip in my purse and wait for 7:30. Then I start loading up the kids and she gets out of bed and brushes her teeth quickly and runs to the car. Wish me luck that this continues. I didn't kick Brent that hard... I've had enough payback.
