I envy our mothers
Today I loaded one or more child in or out of a car seat 18 times. I counted while I was running to make the pain go away, or rather, to focus on a different pain. My mom had a Ford Escort. She used to tell me to get in the car. End of story. With each outing I heft a child into an Expedition, buckle them up, and grab whatever they need usually times 2. Savannah can do it by herself. I know my kids are safer and I know in this Shopping cart basket cover time of mothering this is against the grain but man oh man! Give me a station wagon with some wood paneling and let me yell, "KIDS! Get in the car!"

I totally agree!
and you could even give the kiddos a treat and have them sit in the rear facing seats in the way back! We ought to bring back the station wagon - I mean people are wearing leg warmers again!!!
